In order to have Password Reset Server re-generate the configuration for the client installer take the following steps:
- Remote into your web server where PRS is installed
- Navigate to the Password Reset Server web directory and open the DesktopLoginFiles folder
- Delete the following files:
- prs.config
- prsconfiginfo.config
- prsgina.config
- Open Internet Explorer and navigate to the Password Reset Server site
- In the URL bar, change the page to: CreateConfigurationFiles.aspx
- Click the Create Files button (or enter an account with write access to the install folder if there is a red message)
- After seeing the success message re-download the client installer from WindowsLoginIntegration.aspx
- Unzip the installer and confirm that in the content.zip, there is a file called prsconfiginfo.config
- Open prsconfiginfo.config in notepad and confirm that the prsPath and hostName are correct and correspond to the actual URL of Password Reset Server
- Uninstall the old client from the client computer (Restart if client is XP or 2003)
- Re-install using the new downloaded client installer (Restart if client is XP or 2003)
- Log out from the client and confirm that the 'Forgot password' button on the login screen works
NOTE: After re-generating the config files you can check the DesktopLoginFiles folder for prsconfiginfo.config and confirm that the path and prsPath and hostName are correct.
