This bug only exists in versions earlier than 5.0.
After creating a custom Secret Template and attempting to create a secret derived from that template Secret Server throws this error: Unable to cast object of type 'System.DBNull' to type 'System.String'.
This is likely due to the fact that the Secret Template was created with no fields available. Simply edit the Secret Template and add at least one field, you should now be able to create and edit secrets for that Template.
