To not have Secret Server generate passwords with symbols for a Secret, you need to change the Password Character Set for the Secret Template. To do this, do the following:
Go to Administer>Secret Templates.
Choose the template from the dropdown list.
Click the Edit button to navigate to the edit page.
Click the Edit Passwords button to navigate to the password edit page.
In the Password row of the displayed grid, click the button with the pencil image on it (the Edit button).
Now enter all the allowed characters in the Password Character Set text box.
Click the button with the image of a floppy disc on it (the Save button).
For example:
1. Using the character set "0123456789ABCDEF" would cause only hexadecimal passwords to be created.
2. Using the character set "0123456789abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvxyzABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVXYZ" would create alphanumeric passwords.
Note the default character set for Secret Server is:
abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyzABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ@#$%^&*()1234567890
